Barrington “Skeeto” Joseph Bloomfield, son of Raphael Bloomfield and Ruby Martin was born September 29, 1941 in Spanish Town, Jamaica, W.I. He had 3 siblings - Norma, Joan, and Clive. His Uncle Alfred Martin and Aunt Violet ‘Vie’ Martin also played a significant role in his upbringing and he spent a lot of time growing up with his Cousin Barbara who was like a sister to him.

He attended Kingston College and worked at Jamaica Housing as an Accounting Clerk for over 20 years. He was a family man who spent time with his loved ones and hanging out with friends. He fell for the young and beautiful Beverly Bloomfield and married her in 1974 where they had 2 children - Hannes and Rachelle. Migrating to Canada in the 1970s, they were ready to start their new life in a new country.

He was a devout Catholic and enjoyed attending his local Catholic Church St. Phillip Neri in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Bloomfield had a vibrant personality and was loved and cherished by people of all walks of life. He had a gift of communication that made people feel welcomed, comfortable and brought laughter to the room. He was passionate about health and wellness and devoted his time educating himself, his family and others on the importance of taking care of one’s health. He enjoyed tending to his garden every spring season and you can always catch him outside relaxing in his garden.

Barrington departed this life on Saturday August 1, 2020 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa hospital in Oshawa, Ontario. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruby Martin, Aunt Violet Martin, Uncle Alfred Martin, brother Clive Nelson, and sister Norma Buchanan. He leaves behind his beloved wife Beverly Bloomfield, son Hannes Bloomfield, daughter Rachelle Bloomfield, sister Joan Buchanan, cousin Barbara Doe, and nieces and nephews.

In accordance with the directives provided from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, funeral services may be held within the funeral home with 30 % capacity of visitations rooms and the onsite chapel. Funeral Services may also be held at a place of worship with the same 30% capacity mandate. To allow your extended family and friends to offer their condolences, our spacious rooms and chapels continue to allow for social distancing requirements. Please RSVP at the link provided below.

Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory as per the directives of the Bereavement Authority. This includes ALL staff and attendees. Masks will be provided to those guests who may not have their own.
