Peacefully, at Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of George for 60 years. Cherished mother of Karen Wilson Moore (Mike Moore), Susan Wilson and Michelle Wilson. Predeceased by son David (2011) survived by Anny-Sandra Hamel. Devoted grandma to four granddaughters, Marissa, Megan, Arianne and Kaitlyn. Lovingly remembered by sisters Vivian Chapman and Beverlee Abbott. Predeceased by brother Donald Williams (1999). Will also be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
Barbara loved nature and spent many summers at the cottage. She was interested in travel and was always active with winter and summer activities.
She was a longtime member of Grace United Church in Brampton and was dedicated in giving her time to help many causes including Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign (Stephen Lewis Foundation), Telecare and Bridge (a place for ex-offenders to connect with the community). Barbara was instrumental in starting the regenerative program, at Grace Church, which feeds the less fortunate in the community.
Visitation will be held at the Ward Funeral Home (Brampton Chapel) 52 Main Street, South Brampton on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Grace United Church 156 Main Street North, Brampton on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 2pm. Cremation to follow.
As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to Doctors without Borders, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, Grace United Church or Hill House Hospice.
