Barbara Joan Manley
November 26, 1926 - January 1, 2023
Barbara Joan Manley (nee Whyte) died peacefully at Allendale Long-Term Care Home in Milton, Ontario, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the age of 96. The summary of a life always pales when compared with the memories created and the many people touched by that life. Barb was an extraordinary person, with great trust in God, who positively impacted countless lives. She was devoted to her parents, the late William and Mary Whyte. She was deeply beloved by her husband, the late William (Bill) Manley, who was undoubtedly waiting with a cup of tea and a chelsea bun to welcome her home. Barb was the loving mother of Bill and his wife Debbie Woodman; Michael; Christine and her husband Brian Ennis; Tom and his late wife Jane; Kathleen and her husband Fabian Ennis; Margaret and her husband Kelvin Kucey; and Patrick and his wife Ann Lomax. She was the devoted grandmother and “GG” to 46 (and counting) wonderful people. She was an avid gardener, with the greenest of thumbs, nurturing her plants in the same gentle way she nurtured every child she encountered. She was the dear sister of Bill Whyte and Sheila Blanchard (both deceased), Arthur Whyte, and Michael Whyte and cherished aunt, cousin and friend of many, including dear Joan Luciani (deceased). Family and friends will gather at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, 2100 Jane Street, on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 10 am for visitation, followed by funeral mass at 11 am. After the mass we will gather at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, to share food and stories. We will celebrate Barb’s long life, her goodness and kindness, and her devotion to family and to anyone in need of help. Private family interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barrie. Donations may be made to The Hospital for Sick Children. Barb’s family thanks the staff and volunteers of Allendale LTC for the wonderful care they have given her these past years and the many ways they have supported us. May God hold them and Barb in the palm of His hand.
