Mr Austin Ikponmwosa Irene was born on August 4th, 1964, to Late Pa Ekhaguere Micheal Irene and Mrs Enoyoze Grace Irene in Lagos, Nigeria. He was the third child of a family of eight siblings.
Austin was a brilliant and inquisitive child, which led to his relocation to Benin City with his Uncle, where he began his primary school education at Oguola Primary School, Benin City from 1970 -1976, where he first discovered his love for learning and friendship.
He then proceeded to Adolor College, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, from 1977 1 982, where he excelled academically and developed a wholistic sense of community. Those years were marked by the joy of shared experiences and the lessons learned from both teachers, classmates and his family. He continued his higher education at Bendel State University, Nigeria now known as Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nlgeria, from 1986 - 1990, where he earned a degree in History before moving to Europe and North America (Canada).
Austin's passion for healthcare and his desire to serve led him to pursue a postgraduate diploma in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy at Humber College, Toronto, Canada, from 2004-2006.
One of his first career in Canada was at Matrix Logistics, where he worked from 2000 - till his demise.
He also proceeded to Toronto Rehabilitation Hospital as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in 2009, where he worked until his untimely demise.
His work at the Toronto Rehabilitation Hospital was characterized by his deep concern for his patients and coworkers, as well as his humble, jovial and generous nature as he was always ready to help and support those around him.
Mr. Austin Ikponmwosa Irene married the love of his life, Mrs. Rosemary Osaze Irene in 2008, in Florida, and their union is blessed with two beautiful children Irobosa Blessing Irene, and Osayimwense Samuel Irene, whom he greatly adored.
He was a devoted husband and father whom embodied the true meaning of love and commitment. He stood by his wife through life's joy and challenges offering unwavering support and encouragement. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, God centeredness and nurtured a family grounded in values of kindness, respect, and compassion.
Austin was a man of clever humour, his jovial and witty personality left those around him feeling light-hearted, uplifted and inspired.
He was a devoted Catholic who worshipped with St. Mary's Catholic Church, Brampton, and never missed the 9:30 am Mass.
He passed on to glory on the 22nd day of September, 2024, leaving behind his loving wife, children, his aged mother, seven siblings, numerous family, and friends, whom loved him deeply.
Austin will be remembered by family and friends for his compassionate, humble, and calm demeanor.
As we bid farewell to a Dear Husband, Father, Son, Brother, and Friend, we will forever remember his spirit of service, warmth, and love.
Though he may no longer be with us physically, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly. REST IN PEACE AUSTIN. May your legacy continue to inspire us until we meet again.
