Audrey Anne Southorn
December 11, 1936 – June 17, 2024
Audrey passed away peacefully at Humber River Regional Hospital after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Mary Miller (Southorn) and Eli Southorn. Stepdaughter to Joseph Miller. Audrey was the sister of Jack Southorn, Linda Davy (deceased) and Marilyn (brother-in-law, Rick). She was Aunt to Kyle and Kristen.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Central United Church Community; the residents of Central King Seniors’ Residence; the support of Etobicoke Seniors Services; and, the assistance and friendship provided through the CNIB, Intervenors.
Audrey had a strong faith and belief in God and had been a member of Central United Church for over 50 years. She was delighted when the Church Board decided to build the Seniors’ Residence. In fact, she and Jack were among the first residents to move in, in June 1994. Although there were challenges facing Audrey, she became a strong advocate for herself and others. She had a positive outlook on life and a tenacious nature. She enjoyed summers attending the CNIB Camp at Lake Joseph. She had many interests and hobbies including reading, gardening club, paint club, Bingo and knitting. Many infants left the hospital wearing one of Audrey’s stylish baby touque creations.
A Service of Celebration will be held at Ward’s Funeral Home, Weston Road, on Monday, July 15, 2024. Visitation will occur between 12:00 pm. to 1:00 pm, followed by the Service. Guests are invited to share refreshments and memories at a Reception following the Service.
Donations can be made to Etobicoke Senior Services or to the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind)
