Audrey Slade

On January 23, 2021, our family bid a final farewell to the warm shining star of our families love story! With hugs and kisses, we reluctantly let our Mom go home after 85 years of a life filled with love, kindness and warmth.

Audrey Onnett Slade (nee Foster) will indeed be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Always a kind word, a gentle smile, and a comforting hand, she gave so much love to all around her and never asked for anything in return. A true angel!

A wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, neighbour and friend, Audrey was cherished by us all. She was truly one of a kind in every way.

Mom has joined her forever sweetheart husband, Arthur Josiah Slade (passed in 2000), with whom she had over 46 years of perfection. Flawless! They were til the last day, like a couple of childhood sweethearts! Their very first date in 1954 was a very romantic movie, 'Three Coins In A Fountain'. They took the bus! The very last thing they did together, over 46 years later, was slow dance arm in arm while Dad sang a mushy song to Mom. Mom is now finally able to finish that dance with Dad. How long she has waited!

Audrey will be dearly missed by her daughter Beth and son Art. She was and will always be our guiding light. How lucky we were to have her, a real Mom's Mom. She never took a day off!

Audrey was truly blessed with four amazing loving grandsons in Adam, Derek (Jen), Nicholas (Ashley), Brian (Kris) and their families and dear friends Kate Tait, Rick and Laura Reinhard and their extended families, as well as her beautiful great grandchildren August and Ella ("nanna 2"), Alex and Jaiden. She simply loved and worshipped you all from the bottom of her heart! We saw the smiles you brought to her face! You made her very, very happy! You brought her such incredible joy! Every one of you!

Audrey was also blessed with her loving granddaughter Olivia and her wonderful parents, niece Susan (Foster)and husband Phil from Niagara on the Lake. Also, granddaughter Carly and her parents Elaine and husband Vince from Brampton. Mom loved you and adored you!

Audrey is survived by her cherished and loving brother William Foster (Peggy), and will be missed by all of her thoughtful and kind nieces Susan, Patty, Leslie, Tanya and Cathy, and nephews Lindsay, Wesley, Rick, Holly, Stephen, Scott and their families all from New Brunswick, as well as nieces Daisy, Jane and Beverley and their families from California, and nephew Danny and his family in North Carolina. Also sadly missed by nephew Jackson (Debbie) and niece Sandra (Ron) and their families in Newfoundland, and her niece Heather from Toronto. She loved you all so very much, each and every one of you! Family was important to Mom. The adventures and trips she had with you all, provided memories for a lifetime, for Mom and our family. Trips from coast to coast, from the shores of eastern Canada to the shores of California, to the beaches of the Caribbean and Costa Rica Central America, and all the way to Europe and back! You all had a big part in her life and in her memories! The best family ever! Thank you!

Audrey is predeceased by sisters Doris, Glady, Betty and brothers Burt, Allison and their spouses. Finally, together once again! Oh my...what a party that will be! A toast to them all...we love you...cheers!

Audrey was so fortunate and thankful to be completely surrounded by the best caring neighbours in the world with Sandra, Jim and Sonya, Sandy with Caroline and Anne, Eileen, Gary and Maureen, Adam and Naomi, Betty and Jim Johnson and family (Mom's second son Bill Johnson), Joan and Betty and their families, Maureen and Neil, Angelo and Nea, June, and Shirley, our heart felt thank you for all your cards, flowers, food, kind words, assistance, caring and generosity. You were not just neighbours, you were and are, friends for life. Your friendship, kindness, concern and love for Mom was heart felt and will forever be remembered! We are truly humbled!

Audrey was also blessed with lifelong friendships that meant the world to her. Close forever friends and wonderful memories with Florence and Clyde and their wonderful family (Toronto), vacations and great times with dear friend Inez and Les (Brampton), New Years Eve parties and trips south with long time dear neighbours Pat and Dave (Brampton), Konrad and Jackie (Brampton) and lazy afternoons at Heart Lake and at the "Crows Nest" with family Nancy and Nigel Townsley (Holland Landing) Dan Stoyles and Dad Don (Toronto) and family. You brought laughter, love and lifelong memories into Moms life. We are forever greatful!

A special thank you to the kind hearts of PSW's Sadie and Rinkel, as well as all the staff at Bethel House Hospice (Nurse Joyce), our home nurse Amanda, Doctor Mihaylova in Brampton, and William Sheldon and staff at Wards Funeral Home in Brampton. Your kindness and the dignity you extended to our Mom Audrey and our family was exemplary.

As you can see, Mom touched the hearts of so many and gave so much of herself. We will miss you dearly Mom. We already do! Enjoy that dance Mom! Forever and Always! Your family and friends!

We love you! XOXOXO.

Our family will have a celebration of Mom's life at a later date, when we can all get together as friends and family. You are all invited!!!
