The Sampogna family has lost its heart with the passing of our mother, nonna and bis-nonna, Assunta Sampogna, on January 8, 2016 at the age of 88. She joins her beloved husband of 57 years, the late Nicola Sampogna. At the age of 25, Assunta with a baby in tow emigrated to Canada to join her husband and start a new life. She worked hard and raised 2 children, Maria (Frank) Torti and Andy Sampogna. Assunta often said her life was blessed by her grandchildren, Daniel (Melissa), Matthew (Melissa), Nicolas and Monica. The light of her life was her great-granddaughter, Isabella. Mom lived at Villa Gambin for nearly 4 years. She took an active part in all the activities and committees. Mom was proud to have participated in the Cyber Seniors programme where she learned to e-mail messages. She loved the residents and the staff of the home, especially Maria, Viktoria, Angela, Roshini and Nadene. Our family has been blessed with mom’s unconditional love and support these many years. We are all a little lost now and we will miss her terribly. A part of us went with her when she died and we will feel that emptiness forever. We love you mom, nonna.
