Artur was born in Lordosa – District of Viseu in Portugal. At the age of three his parents for health reasons moved to the capital city of Lisbon. It was here that Artur was raised and always had a great passion for the City of Lisbon. Unfortunately his mother died shortly after they moved and at the age of six his father abandoned him and his three siblings. He was then raised by his paternal grandmother who was a symbol of affection and love to Artur and his siblings. Her health was not the best so Artur was then separated from his one brother and two sisters at the age of eight years as he was placed at a boarding school. Casa Pia de Lisboa. This was a blessing in disguise as it was at this school that he learned discipline, honour and his trade of patternmaking. He left Casa Pia at the age of 18 after completing his industrial course.
At the age of twenty he met the love of his life Odete whom he dated for three years and then married. Together over the span of 11 years they had four children, Carlos, Ana, Artur Jose and Lucia.
It was in 1965 that Artur looking to improve their quality of life, moved to South Africa as an opportunity arose. It was here that their fourth child Lucia was born.
Artur being the hard worker that he was and the excellent professional quickly was noticed and wherever he worked he became lead hand.
His desire to succeed and to give his family the life he had never had made him look for opportunities in which he could have his own business, and he accomplished that in 1974 when he together with three partners founded LISMOLD.
The company was very successful and now Artur was giving his wife and family the life that he was content with. Artur never squandered, he was not ostentatious. He helped his family friends and a lot of people who were in need.
In 1983 he returned to Portugal and then in 1998 came to Canada to join his sons and daughter that resided here.
Artur was a man of God who enjoyed worshiping at Central Baptist Church in Oakville.
He was predeceased by his son Carlos, sister Elcina and brother Cesario.
He leaves behind his wife, three children, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is no longer with us but his memory will live forever in our hearts.
Until we meet again.
