Anthony (Tony) Di Ciano, age 74 of Woodbridge, Ontario passed away suddenly on the morning of June 6th, 2024, after a brief illness. His loss was completely unexpected, and his family is profoundly saddened.
Tony was born on June 13th, 1949, to Giuseppe and Maria Di Ciano in his beloved hometown of Lanciano, (Abruzzo) Italy. He was the youngest of five children: late Camillo, Linda, late Donato, and Maria.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis of 47 years, his two sons, Justin and Julien, his endearing daughters-in-law, Kristen and Amanda, his five cherished grandchildren, Makayla (12), Julien (9), Anthony (8), Jack (3) & Ben (1) his beloved sisters Linda & Maria, dear sister-in-law Klara, many more beautiful nieces and nephews and his cherished dog “Chi Chi”.
On the advice of his dearest brother Donato, in 1967 at the age of 17 years old, Tony immigrated to Toronto, Canada to begin a new life. His first job was as a waiter’s assistant at the Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto, before embarking on the beginning of a career in the Automotive Sector. In 1982, Tony & Phyllis started their business, J.J. Auto Collision Ltd, which they named after their two young boys.
Tony would go on to build a business over the next 30 years far more successful than he ever dreamed of when he immigrated from Italy. He credited his business success to his never-ending work ethic, his generosity, and compassion for others.
Despite his many successes over the years, Tony will always be known for his humility, and never forgetting his connection to the initial years of his life in Lanciano, where his parents worked tirelessly to provide him and his siblings a life built from hard work and devotion.
Tony had the biggest heart, and the most beautiful smile. His love for nature, his dogs and his grandchildren defined who he was among his family and friends.
Tony will forever be remembered for his generous and caring manner, compassion for others, his loving smile, hard-working personality, funny, and often inappropriate jokes, and his presence when he entered anyone’s life.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass to be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., with entombment to follow at Glendale Cemetery.
