Antonio Colucci

Antonio Colucci was born in a small community in the Liri Valley of Sora (San Vincenzo Ferreri) on January 19th, 1931. He was the fifth child to be welcomed by his parents Domenico and Maria Giuseppa (Tersigni). His childhood was blessed in sharing the household with his parents, grandparents Ferdinando and Maria Domenica Simone, his aunt and uncle Loreta and Vincenzo, along with his eight siblings Giulio, Gina, Pasquale, Vincenza, Vincenzo, Rocco, Maria and Antonietta.
A house filled with laughter, happy times, hard work and surely some tears, all of which gave rise to the many wonderful memories he shared with his family through the years. Memories that will make his legacy live on.
Antonio was given the basics of life early on, such as work ethic, respect, love for family and fellow man, appreciation and thankfulness. His parents and community instilled such values that he carried and relied on throughout his lifetime.
Although Antonio was doted with many outstanding qualities, his most notable quality besides the love for his family, was his work ethic. Antonio simply loved to work, whether it be at his job as a pipefitter, gardening his beloved vegetable garden, tending to his majestic hydrangea plants, perfecting the motor for grinding tomatoes or getting the equipment ready for the upcoming wine season.
His work ethic was impeccable, and there never were half measures with Antonio, as he had an iron will twinned with boundless energy. Some called him a bulldozer, while his daughter preferred to call him her gladiator.
At the tender age of sixteen, while attending the yearly festival of the Madonna of Valfrancesca, he set his eyes on a young fourteen-year-old girl, Erminia Grossi. Relentless in his pursuit, until she became his beloved bride in January of 1955. In the fall of that year they welcomed their only child Rita and became a family.
In 1967, they immigrated into Canada and settled into a new life. A new life that welcomed Rita’s husband, Robert Quadrini, their children Sonia (Gianni Di Iorio) and Anthony (Alesandra Panzica), and Antonio’s most precious gifts, his grandchildren, Mikayla, Alessandro, Luca and Marco.
As written in the stars, Antonio was called home on October 10th, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of eighty-eight. They shared in his last breath of life, knowing that the following would always be true…
“Blessed are the eyes that saw you while you lived, as blessed are the hearts of those you loved”.
