Watson, Anne (nee Pottle)
January 20, 1915 - April 24, 2014
Mom passed away peacefully after a long and full life, on Thursday April 24th, 2014 at the Eatonville Nursing Home. She was in her 100th year. Predeceased by her beloved Roy (1998), she leaves behind to cherish her memories her sons Wayne (Anne) and Terry (Eva) and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Marlee Cole (Matt), Kristopher (Marian) and Nicholas (Terran). She will be fondly remembered by her family, friends, and neighbours. Anne is survived by her brothers Rueb Pottle (NF) and Oliver Pottle (Boston, US).
Mom was born In Flatrock NF to Albert and Alice Pottle. She had 11 siblings; 6 sisters and 5 brothers. Mom attended the Grace Hospital Training School for Nurses in St. John’s NF, graduating on August 15th, 1941. While living in St. John’s, Mom met our dad who was stationed there with the RAF. They were married in Toronto on January 22nd, 1944. In 1945 they moved to Winnipeg and during their time there, Mom and Dad purchased a cottage at West Hawk Lake where many fun filled days were spent during our summer vacations. In 1964 Dad who worked for CIBC was transferred back to Toronto where they purchased their house on Abinger Crescent. Mom filled her days looking after her family and volunteering with the Mississauga IODE, the St. Luke’s Comet Club, and the Newfoundland Grace Grads of Ontario.
As life moved along and greater distances separated us, some of Mom’s happiest moments occurred when everyone was “home”. Having her boys and her grandchildren together filled her with happiness. Whether it was a card, a call, or a visit we always have held our Mom dearly in our hearts.
We would also like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to the Staff at Eatonville Nursing Home for the wonderful, dedicated compassion and care given to our Mom.
It is with fond memories of Mom that we take this moment to wish her everlasting peace and Godspeed. We will love you forever!
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 2035 Weston Road (north of Lawrence Ave.) Weston, on Monday April 28th, 2014 from 12 noon until the time of service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment to follow.
Flowers gratefully declined please. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Children’s Wish Foundation or to The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
