Anne "Nan" Oxley

Nan Oxley
(Anne Marie McDonagh)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of our mother, on Thursday April 9th. Nan Oxley was born to Judge Frank and Mary McDonagh 21 April 1932. Predeceded by the love of her life Don Oxley and her daughter Kathy Wood. She leaves behind her remaining children Lynne, Donald (Mary), Anne Marie, Fran (Manny), grandchildren Jessica (Chris), Joshua (Jacqui), Ryan (Laura), René, Trent, Madeline, Zachary and great granddaughters Paige and Stella; and her brother and sisters, Andy McDonagh, Mary Jo Anderton, and Sheila Vail.

If you were to ask Nan what she wanted to do with her life, it would have been to be a wife and mother. When she met Don she was 16, and knew this was the man for her, her diary confirms this. Nan and Don dedicated their lives to their children. We were their greatest joy and we all knew it. Our parents instilled wonderful values and morals from which we in turn pass on to our children.

Nan’s life was not easy there were many, many hardships. She maintained her faith, which helped her a great deal. In 2002 when our father died from West Nile Virus, his last words were “Nan”. Part of our mother died with him and more health difficulties plagued her. Living alone and loosing her eyesight was impossible to do. Our family was very grateful that Fran and Manny were able to renovate their home and have our mum move in with them. Living with Fran and Manny and seeing Maddy and Zach grow gave her a reason to enjoy life again. The sacrifices that Fran and Manny endured due to this living arrangement cannot be underestimated. No amount of thanks and appreciation is enough. Without their help our mother would have died along with Dad.
