Anna Szymanski

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Szymanski.

Anna passed away peacefully on Monday August 5, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital at the age of 99. Anna was predeceased by her only daughter, Julie Szymanski-Cobb earlier this year, and her late husband Peter in 1999. Anna leaves behind her son-in-law, Harry and grandchildren, Cheryl and Steven. 

Anna was born in Ukraine on May 17, 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1951. Anna worked for many years in the hospitality industry and dedicated her entire life to providing for her family and caring for others. Anna especially enjoyed time with her great-grandsons Caleb and Wesley. It was Anna’s strength and determination that helped her see a long life well-lived and many friends pass before her. 

Special thank you to the doctors and nurses at North York General Hospital during her transition to long-term care, and to her most recent new friends, nurses and support workers at Thornton View Long-Term Care Home in Oshawa. Extended thanks, to the doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Hospital during her final hours.

 As per Anna’s wishes, there will be no service, cremation has taken place and a private burial will be held. 

Our family appreciates your prayers and kind gestures during this difficult time and ask that no flowers or donations be made. We were overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity just a few months ago when our dearest Julie passed away.
