Anna Maria Deotto
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 18, 2023, at the age of 89. Devoted wife of the late Antonio. Proud mother of John (Susan), Ivana (Robert Manera) and Franca (Robert Leonardelli). Cherished Nonna of Stephanie (Gaetano), Anthony (Lisa), Cristina (Dave), Alexandra (Marco) and Steven. Loving Bisnonna of Noa, Dante, Joni, and Brooklyn. She will be sadly missed by her sister Liliana, sisters-in-law Antonietta and Renata, nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends, both in Canada and abroad. She has now been reunited with the love of her life Antonio.
Maria was born in Casarsa della Delizia, Pordenone, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1955. She was a homemaker for many years, then worked at various catering facilities, mainly in the kitchen of the Famee Furlane. Maria was renowned for her delicious crostoli.
Fondly remembered for her amazing baking and delicious weekly family night meals which were usually followed by her announcing “fasin una partida’ (let’s play cards). Her love for socializing was ingrained from her childhood at the “Communal” where dancing, singing and large gatherings were common occurrences. That love for family and passion for good times continued throughout her life.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Villa Leonardo Gambin that tenderly cared for her during these last difficult years.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Friday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. and a funeral mass will be held on Saturday January 21, 2023, at 9 a.m. at St. Roch’s Parish (2889 Islington Ave., North York). Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Villa Leonardo Gambin would be appreciated.
