Anna Defina

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Defina on December 6, 2022, 3 weeks before her 93rd birthday. Beloved wife of the late Nicola Defina and a wonderful mother to Frank (Cathy), Jim and Connie.

Anna was cherished by her grandchildren Christina (Franco), Christopher (Bailey), Sara (James) and Michael (Valerie). Anna adored her great grandchildren, Matteo and Emily and her furry friend Molly.

Anna helped raise her grandchildren and although they were a handful, it was just a day’s work for her. Their fond memories and her abundant love for them was ever present.

Anna loved to share many stories of her life in Italy and in downtown Toronto. Her happy spirit, social demeanor and vivacious energy will be missed. She was very independent and had a comical, fiery attitude. Nothing made her happier than being with family and preparing an entire meal, and if you couldn’t help her fast enough you would be told to “N’esce di piede!” Her kindness, laughter love and generosity will be cherished forever.

Friends and family will be received at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge on Thursday December 8, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral mass to be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Church on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
