Angelo Boni
(1941 - 2022)
Angelo Boni passed away suddenly at his home in Woodbridge on Wednesday May 18th 2022, at the age of 81.
Beloved husband of Elvira for 57 years, loving father of Diana and her husband Jim, Vicki and her husband Ben, and son Igino. Cherished Nonno of Christian, David, Maria, Isabella, and Olivia.
Angelo was the youngest of eight children. He immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1960. After marrying Elvira, they settled in Toronto where he established a successful Barbershop with lifelong loyal customers. Angelo loved his trade and took great pride in his work and shop. The Barbershop was his and his clients “home away from home”, as beautifully described in an article by the Toronto Sun. There he loved listening to, chatting with, and learning from his diverse clientele. He was trusted, respected, and beloved.
In his later years, if he wasn’t spending time with family and friends over a meal or drink, Angelo could be found toiling away at his prize-winning flower garden or expansive vegetable garden. He was always happy to share his green thumb advice with anyone willing to take on the challenge of matching his lawn or vegetable/flower growing techniques.
Angelo loved, laughed, and worked hard his entire life and he instilled that in his children and grandchildren. A storyteller by nature, he loved to reminisce about his travels to Canada, his life back in Italy, and his beginning time as an immigrant. His motto was “Nothing is for free, work hard and you’ll be rewarded”. His passion, pride, and work ethic were infectious and inspiring.
He will be held dear in our hearts and deeply missed.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Monday May 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday May 24, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary’s Parish, 8500 Islington Ave., Woodbridge. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
