Andris was a dedicated Father, loyal husband, and man of faith.
He was a genius level mathematician who made multiple discoveries finding patterns with numbers. Professionally, he was a High School math teacher and loved it so much that when he retired he continued on, working in California and then tutoring. He enjoyed roaming the halls in school and wearing multiple ties during the week (Monday: 1 tie, Tuesday: 2 ties, Wednesday: 3 ties etc…).
He was a gifted and accomplished concert pianist (ARCT) and loved to play often filling his home with the sound of music.
Andris and Lorraine were passionate about travel and planned many extended road trips throughout the USA and Canada which set the table for many adventures and beautiful memories for their family. Not to mention many opportunities for Andris to look for rattlesnakes along the side of the road or in any desert landscape. Andris loved nature, particularly reptiles, and had multiple pet snakes throughout the years including a 14 foot Boa Constrictor that while demonstrating to a class of students that snakes are nothing to be afraid of, bit him right in the face.
He was gifted in his use of sarcasm, which he also taught his children, would tell the most Dad of Dad jokes, and loved to take things literally so he kept you on your toes. Particularly when responding to the question “how are you?” and his response would be awful. He would love to explain he is “full of awe”.
Andris loved his family and accepted people for who they were. He would do anything in his power for his family, including driving 9 hours through the night to pick up his kids on broken down road trips.
Andris had a big personality but the most generous heart and would likely give the shirt off his own back to help a stranger.
He is and will be missed.
