March 29, 1989 – December 8, 2019
Andrew, 30, of Toronto, Ontario, left us unexpectedly and far too soon, on December 8th, 2019. He was born to James Downey and Melanie Downey (nee McMurdo) on March 29, 1989 in Scarborough, Ontario. He attended St. Jude’s Catholic School and studied Nursing at Georgian College.
Andrew will forever be remembered for his quick wit, depth, intelligence, artistic flair and his unwavering ability to make an entire room laugh. His sense of fashion and design were impeccable; you could always count on Andrew to give you the best style advice. He was a flamboyant, talented gay man whose words always came from a deep place within because he knew much suffering.
Andrew was well schooled in the teachings of the Catholic faith. He lit up in the presence of his nieces and nephew.
Andrew leaves to mourn, his father, James (Lorena), sisters Shawna and Ashley (Craig), nieces Cheyenne, Shelby, Abby and nephew, John, and oodles of aunts, uncles, cousins and many devoted souls (friends) that he touched during his short time on this Earth. Andrew is predeceased by his mother, Melanie.
Loss is never easy, under any circumstance, especially when one was so passionate and full of life. For those of you wishing to pay your respects to the departed, please join Andrew’s family at a Mass in memory of Andrew on Tuesday, Dec 17th at 11 am at St. Jude’s Catholic Church at 3265 Weston Road, North York.
