ESPINOZA, Amelia

After a long, full life, Amelia was peacefully called by God on Saturday October 15, 2022 in Brampton, Ontario a few weeks shy of her 103rd birthday. She was a bold, fun, nurturing, loving, and generous matriarch to the Espinoza-Tomala family.


Distance was never an obstacle to her care, and the love for family has taken her around the globe from Ecuador, her birth country, to Canada and Italy, where the presence of those she cared for revitalized her journey. She traveled up until the age of 101.


She was the loving mother of 10 children (Celeste, Argentina, Alejandrina, Agustina, Carlene, Glenda, Galo, Washington, Vicente, and Gustavo), and beloved abuelita America to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.


She will be remembered as the light that filled the room with stories, dance, laughter and joy; a light that not only lit the paths for her children, but for many of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she helped to raise. Although she will be greatly missed and leaves a large void in the hearts of her loved ones, her light is not extinguished but is being carried within each of the lives she has touched. Amelia will forever be remembered and be held dear in the hearts of her family, relatives, and friends.
