It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Amalia Arrizza (nee DiCarlo) on May 3rd, 2020 at the age of 93. Amalia was born in Rocca San Giovanni, Chieti, Italy and came to Canada in 1954. She was the beloved wife to the late Giovanni Arrizza (1998). Amalia cherished her daughters Giulia (Eugenio) and Sandra (Edward). She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Mariano (Laurie), Vanessa (Alexander), Thomas (Cristina), Christina, John (Maeghan), Joseph and her great grandchildren Jack, Chloe, Abbey, Julian and Giorgia, whom she loved and adored.
She is predeceased by her siblings Laura, Maria, Gilda, Egisto, and Paolo and will be missed by surviving sisters Mafalda, Matilde, Esterina (Armando) and sister-in-law Gloria. Amalia also leaves behind many family and friends whose lives she has touched along the way.
Amalia was very proud of her family and deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a strong, elegant, independent woman who worked hard and loved unconditionally. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she was always ready to lend a helping hand. She was a multitalented perfectionist, who expressed her artistry through gardening and culinary talents. Amalia took great pride in hosting family gatherings and sharing these talents with those she loved. Be assured, that she is now busy preparing an exquisite banquet for a reunion with loved ones that have gone before her.
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Weston Terrace for their loving care over the last 4 years.
Due to difficult times a private funeral service will be held on May 7, 2020 with interment at Glendale Memorial Gardens. A memorial celebration mass for Amalia will be held at a later date.
