Alison Margaret Harris - RN (Cuthbertson)
Born Nov 20, 1927 Wainwright Alberta. She passed away peacefully on January 27, 2022 at Extendicare Brampton. Alison is pre-deceased by her Husband Bill, brothers Alan (Jean), Jack (Mary) and Jim.
Alison was a strong, independent woman with an adventurous spirit who graduated in 1949 from Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. She moved to Orangeville Ontario with the belief it was close to the big city of Toronto. She met her future husband Bill (William Bert Harris) at an outdoor ice rinkduring the Christmas holidays 1950.We will never know who won that race but Alison believes it was her on speed skates. In the new year of 1951, Alison moved to Montreal to take up a position with TCAas a stewardess.In those days being a Registered Nurse was required. Alison and Bill married in November of 1952 and remained happily married until Bill’s passing in 1995. They lived in Brampton, where Alison worked as a Nurse for 35 years at Peel Memorial Hospital.She ended her career as Head Nurse of the Emergency department. Alison also enjoyed her travelsall over the globe and her hobbies.
Loving Mother of Rob (Diane) Harris of Orangeville, Ont., Murray (Dorothy) Harris of Langley, BC and Jane (Bill) of Sarnia, Ont. Cherished Grandmother of Jeff (Kelly), Andrew (Magda), Taylor (Jon), Candice, Devin (Riley) and Vivian and her Great Grandchildren Alex, Maya, Elliott, Easton, Jack and Esmé. Remembered lovingly by Sister-in-Law Gloria and Nieces and Nephews. We will greatly miss her and will always have her in our hearts.
Mom never liked the wearing of black so wear red and smell a rose in her memory.
The Family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff at Extendicare, Summerville House for all their care during the last 4 years, especially, these last 2 years of difficult times.
In Lieu of Flowers, Donations in Alison’s name may be me given to Ontario Heart and Stroke Association, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
