Alida Gloria Abrams

Alida Gloria Abrams, 68, of Toronto, Ontario passed away in her sleep at home on August 17th, 2024. 

Alida was born on January 20th, 1956 in Havana, Cuba to parents Ignacio and Ana Maria (Fernandez) Vazquez. Growing up in Long Island, New York, relocating to Montreal, Québec, and eventually settling in the Greater Toronto Area, Alida owned a successful telecommunications company for many years and a highly regarded gluten and dairy-free bakery. Her hard-working and driven entrepreneurial spirit is an inspiration to her surviving family and her friends. 

Alida was an avid gardener and baker. While she found these pursuits fulfilling, Alida's true pride, joy and passion was her family. Her grandchildren, children, siblings, nieces, nephews and their children were everything to her. She loved her family and would consistently go out of her way to accommodate and care for them. 

Alida was an adored mother to Ignacio, David (Mary), Christina (Kevin) and Gloria (Michael), and a cherished grandmother to Brody, Serena and Valerie. She was also a beloved sister to Annie and Marilena, and Tia to Mara, Melanie, Alex and Annette. Alida is to be cremated and an honour of her memory will be held on August 31st, 2024 at Ward Funeral Home Weston Chapel (2035 Weston Rd, Toronto, ON). A visitation will take place at 2pm with a memorial service to follow at 3pm. 

While flowers and memorials are welcome, they are not necessary. In lieu, please consider making a donation in her honour to the Red Door Shelter for women, children and refugee claimants fleeing domestic abuse and housing crises.
