Peacefully at Woodhall Park Retirement Home, in her 95th year, Alice was called to heaven where she will be united with her husband James and son Michael. She is survived by her daughter Marie, son Jim (Janet), and grandchildren Matthew, Brendan, and Rachael. Alice was born on February 22, 1922 in Toronto, the youngest of three children. At one year old, she lost her mother to Leukemia, but remarkably she grew into a beautiful woman with the sunniest of dispositions and a strong faith. She was both smart and athletic, finishing high school by the age of 16, while being a top basketball player. She became a physiotherapist at the end of WWII, and later met James, the love of her life, at church. Motherhood was her greatest joy and her loving nature was evident in every aspect of family life. She was a devoted member of St Mary’s church since moving to Brampton in 1968. She devoted many hours to helping those in need, both at church through various ministries, and in the community, including many years spent answering a crisis hotline with Telecare. She enjoyed playing bridge, curling and cottaging. Her warm smile won over everyone she met, and her goodness will be missed by friends and family. Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel”, 52 Main Street South (Hwy 10), Brampton on Sunday, January 08th from 2-5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 9th, at St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church 66A Main Street South, Brampton at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
