It is with heavy hearts that Lynne-Marie and Natalie Baldeo announce the passing of our devoted husband and cherished father, Alfred Chan Baldeo. Alfred took the next step of his journey on Friday, April 24th, 2020 at 85 years young.
Alfred's humour, kindness, compassion, selflessness, and downright silliness were known by all who met him.
Alfred's older brother, Albert, was a Reverend and his younger brother Gerry is a comedian -- Alfred shared traits from both. As a Deacon, he had the ability to deliver a sermon that would make you think, make you cry, and make you laugh until your stomach hurt.
Alfred was a storyteller. He loved to share stories with family, friends, and strangers alike. His stories were funny, philosophical, and sometimes a little risqué!
Alfred was an active athlete over his many years, playing tennis, table tennis, and badminton to name a few. He won numerous awards for his athletic ability, many of which were achieved after he turned 65.
Alfred loved to dance and listen to music of all different genres. He was an avid reader and was known for his beautiful calligraphy. Alfred was also an animal lover, taking in many stray cats over the years.
To all that have known Alfred over his many years in both Canada and Trinidad, we hope that you will share both a laugh and a tear with us when we are able to arrange a Memorial & Celebration Of Life at a later date.
Alfred is survived by his dedicated wife Lynne-Marie and his loving daughter Natalie, his brother Gerry, his sister Sybil (Rani), his sister-like niece Rose, his sister-in-laws Beryl, Dureen (Dee) and Susan (Sue), his brother-in-law Peter, and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family, along with so many friends, colleagues, and neighbours.
We know that Alfred will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.
A limb has fallen from our family tree
We keep hearing a voice that says:
"Grieve not for me"
Remember the best times,
The laughter, the song
The good life I lived while I was strong
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you
Keep smiling and surely
The sun will shine through
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest
Remember how I truly was blessed
Continue traditions, no matter how small
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,
Until the day comes when we are together again
