WEBSTER, Alexander - On Friday, December 4, 2009 Alex went to join his dear wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Hartley) in God's loving embrace. Born May 25, 1921, he is survived by his son James (Valerie), grandchildren Cheryl, Corey and Crystal, brothers John and William (Elaine) and cousin Marjorie Radford. He is fondly remembered by dear neighbours, Frank and Mary Alati (Christina and Cassandra). His memory will be cherished by William and Anne Sword and Bruce and Nancy Boyd and family. His was a life of service. A veteran of the Canadian Army, Alex was for 39 years a faithful employee of the Toronto Transit commission. A longtime member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church he was also the President of and enthusiastic chorister and participant in the Beaver Bible Class. Alex helped countless numbers of children through his work with the Community Association for Riding for the Disabled. Friends may call at Ward Funeral Home (2035 Weston Road, north of Lawrence), Weston on Monday, December 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8th at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (1579 Royal York Road at Dixon Road). A service to celebrate Alex's life will be held in the church at 11 a.m. Those who love Alex wish to express their thanks to Doctors Leith, Wilson and Reinhartz as well as the staff of Leisureworld, Weston for their compassionate care.
