Alexander MacMillan

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Alex MacMillan on October 24th, 2024 at the age of 77.

Alex was born on July 18, 1947, in Toronto to his loving parents Irene and Alex (both deceased) and big brother Donnie.

In April 1974 Alex finally married Helen, the love of his life, 9 years after their first date at the ages of 15 and 18. They built an amazing life together, raising two children, Doug and Tracy. Later, they would welcome their grandchildren, Caitlyn and Nathan and grand puppy Benson. His family is what he lived for and the thing that he was most proud of.

Alex was loved and adored by all who knew him, including those who worked with him at the City of Brampton, for 30 years.  Alex got to know every employee on a personal level and was known for always being a true gentleman with an infectious smile and a gentle demeanor. Alex demonstrated the qualities of a true leader but leading with integrity and humility. He retired from his position as the Commissioner of Public Works in 2004, so he could travel the world with Helen and be a tremendously involved and loving grandfather.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer society in his memory.
