It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alex (Shukry) Ashour. Surrounded by the love of his family, Alex passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 in his 82nd year.

Born to Ashour and Antonina in Bethlehem, Palestine on April 16, 1941. Alex was a loving man married to Susan for 52 years. Beloved father of Elena (Michael) & Christopher (Ghazal). Proud grandfather of Logan, Cole, Sasha and Charlotte. Predeceased by his dear sister Nadine.

At a young age, Alex relocated to Amman, Jordan from Palestine with his family. Jordan became his home where he made lifelong friends. In his twenties he moved to London, England to pursue a higher education. With his degree in Chemistry, Alex decided to travel to Canada bound for the promise of new opportunities. He arrived in Canada nearly 60 years ago. Soon after he met and married Susan. They welcomed their children Elena and Christopher. Alex was committed to his family and found no greater role as Husband, Father and later as Grandfather. His legacy will live on in each one of them.

Alex was a chemist by trade but had a very mechanical mind. He was a man who could fix anything, he could envision an apparatus and then he would build it. He also had a keen interest in astronomy and was building rockets as a child.

Alex was a lovable and loving man. He was always willing to help those dear to him. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends at his cottage in the So-Ho-Mish community as well as at his home in Florida. He loved the beach and the water and loved spending time with his grandchildren in the sea or on his boat on Doe Lake. Along with his bright creative intellect, he had good down-to-earth wisdom, humor, and integrity.

In 1990 he and his dear friends Yogesh (predeceased) & Livio began Prism Powder Coatings. From humble beginnings their vision grew into a prosperous business. Alex will be lovingly remembered by his Prism Powder Coatings friends.

82 but taken too soon, Alex still had many plans on the horizon. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
