On Monday, April 27, 2020, Aleda Rebecca Halley, a loving mother of five children and a relentlessly hard working woman passed away at the age of 82.
Aleda, who was also known to family as Yvette, was born on November 8, 1937 in Georgetown Guyana. She entered a relationship with Patrick Wills the father of her first child, Vernon. A few years later, she married Albert Luther Edward Anthony and gave birth to 4 children: Paulette, Paul, Paula and Gary. Aleda had many grandchildren, which included: Nicholas, Sasha, Javern, Daron, Shaneice, Daniel, Daryus, Shonnell, Jermaine, Hakeem, Shanique, Jahvaris, Gary Jr., Natalie, Angel, Josiah, and Zaivon. She also had a few great grandchildren, which included: Jada, Tyra, Vanessa, Sophie, Phire, Dronte, and Jamar.
After her marriage ended, in 1971 she departed to Canada to pursue a new life.
In Canada, Aleda worked tirelessly as a domestic worker doing a few odd jobs to survive. Eventually, she found employment at Lord Simcoe Hotel where she worked for a few years, while also working part-time in the post office.
Eventually, she was able to get all her children with her in Canada so that they too can pursue better opportunities.
In her pursuit of betterment, Aleda attended a healthcare vocational center and graduated in 1984. She secured employment at Toronto East General Hospital where she worked as a healthcare aid. After retirement in 2003, Aleda spent many years travelling, and pursuing some of her hobbies including cooking for family and friends..
Her story is one of perseverance and love. She will be greatly missed.
A Private family funeral will be held on Saturday.
