Aldo Del Zotto
November 7, 1931 - May 19th, 2022
Aldo Del Zotto passed away at his home on Thursday May 19th 2022, at the age of 90, after a beautiful life enjoyed with family and friends.
Beloved husband of Elsa for 62 years, loving father of Laura, Marco and his wife Sarah. Cherished nonno of Isabella, Christopher, Amelia, Gabriel, and Olivia.
Aldo was born in Rividischia, Italy in 1931, the third of Pietro and Amelia Del Zotto’s four children. He was born in a house where his family and their descendants had lived for more than 500 years. He immigrated to Canada in 1957, 65 years ago. Here he met and married Elsa. Together they made a wonderful life for themselves and their family. Aldo was a hard worker with a career in construction as a bricklayer, an avid gardener, and devoted family man. Aldo loved nothing more than spending time in his expansive vegetable garden or at the family cottage which he lovingly built. It was a place where many wonderful family celebrations and memories were created. Aldo relished physical work (he just couldn’t stay still) and he was equally adept whether he was using a bricklayer’s trowel, a garden hoe, or a chainsaw to cut down a 100 ft. tree.
Aldo enjoyed sharing his stories of his life back in Italy, living through the depression, World War II, and then his journey immigrating to Canada and how it symbolized hope and the opportunity for a better life. Aldo instilled meaningful values in our lives – love of family, honesty, generosity, integrity, the importance of hard work, and always looking your best!
He will be held dear in our hearts and deeply missed.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd, York on Tuesday May 24th from 3 -5p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday May 25th, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. John-the-Evangelist R.
