Albert Pietersma,
Professor Emeritus of Septuagint and Hellenistic Greek, Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations, University of Toronto.

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at age 89. Born in Opende, Groningen, The Netherlands.  Albert was not only a devoted scholar and teacher, but ambidextrous as well. Alongside his scholarly career, which featured numerous books and articles, he enjoyed wood working, gardening, both indoor and out, playing handyman around the Pietersma home, and was an avid environmentalist.

For close to 65 years he was a devoted husband of Greta (Margaret), Jacoba (Stadig). Loving father of Bryan Lyckle (Lena Jagersten), Kevin Scott (Amanda Anderson) and Larisa Renée (Phillip Demetro). Beloved Pake of Connor, Alex, Sterling and Hayden. Brother of late Henry (Anita), Jeff (Noni), late Margaret Dupon (late Harry), Harry (Eleanor) and Johanna. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Liekele and Martje (Cazemier) Pietersma.
