On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Albano (Albert) Ferrazzutti passed away at the age of 92.
He was the beloved husband of Mary of 61 years; wonderful father of Christine, Nancy (deceased), and Lori; caring father-in-law of Sal (Severio), Paul (Lisa), and Douglas; loving Nonno of Adrienne (Kintaro), Caitlin, Rachel, Rebecca, Paige, Tessa, Ava, and Mason; dear brother of Rino (deceased) (Angela, deceased) and Luciana (Giuseppe, deceased);fond brother-in-law of Angela, Gianni, Dometilla, and Tony (deceased); and thoughtful Zio of nieces and nephews in Toronto and Italy.
Born in Cisterna, Italy, Albert moved to Belgium at aged 18, and then to Canada in 1951 at the age of 21. He started working, as many Italian immigrants did, in the mines. He built homes with his brother for several years, and then started his 40+ year career as a tile and marble setter.
Albert loved spending time at the cottage having a coffee on the front porch, playing bocce, and sitting around the bonfire.
Over the years, he spent many hours tending his vegetable garden. During the last two years, he enjoyed sitting in his favourite backyard chair supervising Mary as she tended the garden and looking out at “Nancy’s” tree.
You could always find Albert in the backyard or family room at 3:00 pm enjoying his afternoon espresso. He enjoyed playing Briscola with his family or friends at Amesbury Community Centre, going to his grandchildren’s arts and sporting events, and watching all the Toronto sports teams (Leafs, Argos, Blue Jays, Raptors), Formula 1, and the Italian soccer league. He cherished spending time with his family on many vacations in Florida, Margarita Island, Turks and Caicos, and Italy.
Albert will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a kind, unassuming, supportive and loving person with a bright and contagious smile. He made a lasting impact and built a beautiful family who love him dearly. He will be missed.
