Mr. Alan George Jackson Faichnie peacefully passed away on Friday, August 18th, 2023.
The only child of George and Mary Faichnie. Alan married his dear wife Rosemary Lillian Heely on April 20th, 1957. He is survived by Rosemary and his three beloved children - Jo, Terry and Andrew.
Alan was very much a jack-of-all trades. There wasn't anything built he couldn't fix. His interests ranged from sail boats to computers - not just using but programming them! He was rather bored in Flordia one winter so he wrote a program to figure out when the sun would rise. He tinkered with the program until he had it just right. Both Alan and Rosemary saw many sunrises that winter.
His greatest love was sailing. He was a masterful sailor, terrific helmsman and taught many people how to not only sail but to dock their boats. He passed his love of sailing on to his children. He belonged to Port Credit Yacht Club for a number of years and was an active member serving on the board. Later he joined Mimico Crusing Club from 1983- 2019.
After a bout with cancer, he was plagued by mobility issues which curtailed his ability to sail and enjoy the active lifestyle to which he was accustomed. He passed away peacefully at Humber River Hospital.
Always in their hearts, his family will miss him very much.
