Agostina "Stina" Giunta, 83, earned her wings Sunday morning, April 26,2020, in the dedicated care of her nurses at Villa Colombo LTC, and is now at peace with her loving husband.
Stina was the devoted wife to the late Giuseppe "Pino" Giunta; beloved mother to her children Anna Maria, Salvatore(Rose), and Joseph; and adoring grandmother to Cristina and Alexandra, Michael, Joseph, and Nicole. She was predeceased by her parents, Giuseppe and Maria, and brothers Antonino and Salvatore. She is survived by her sister Domenica "Mimma, brother and sister-in-law Antonino and Clara, and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Stina was born in Italy on June 1,1936 in Termini Imerese, Sicily and bravely immigrated to Canada with her family in 1966. She was the rock of our family. She worked hard, loved unconditionally, and her generosity knew no bounds. When she was well, she was the life of the party, she loved to tell stories, and she added beauty, creativity and thoughtfulness to all that she did. Her house was filled with her favourite flowers and the sound of CHIN radio, playing classic Italian songs she loved to sing and dance to.
She doted on her grandchildren and encouraged them in all their passions. We remember her contagious laughter, her singing, her delicious cooking and famous biscotti, her talent for dressmaking and her glorious Christmas "presepio" nativity, among many other talents, qualities and warm gestures she offered to our family and friends.
We thank the nurses, PSW's and staff at Villa Colombo for their years of caring for our Mom, Nonna, sister, sister-in-law and Zia. We are so grateful for all the kind words and gestures of love and support you have given us during this sad time and we will remember her always.
Due to these difficult times, we will arrange a memorial service at a later date when the safety of our family and friends is no longer at risk. The family will hold a private service and Stina will be laid to rest at
Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery on April 30,2020.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
