KIELESINSKI, Irene nee Mankowski. On January 25, 2020 she died peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 90.
She is survived by her husband Stefan, daughter Anita (and husband Lorne Cam) along with the loves of her life, her grandsons Bruce, Douglas and Matthew. She was their adored Babcia who dispensed love and food in equal measure to the point where no other pierogies would do! Remembered fondly by niece Lucy Springer and family of Mississauga. She is also the last of her generation on the Mankowski side of the family, leaving many loved nieces and nephews including Bozena (and Piotr) Wojcinski and Andrzej (and Dorota) Idzik of Poland.
Irene was born in Poland and grew up youngest of her siblings on her family farm in Tarlow. While WW2 raged around the village, she and her family survived both German and Russian waves of fighting leaving her not with a broken spirit but as someone with a hard work ethic and a loving spirit towards her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of good books and equally good martinis!
Visitation will be Friday January 31, 2020 from 4 to 8 pm at Ward Funeral Home on 2035 Weston Road, Etobicoke. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Ward on Saturday February 1st at 9:30 am and internment will be at Sanctuary Park Cemetery (Royal York Rd/The Westway) following the service.
The family wishes to thank the Trillium ICU for their exemplary and compassionate care.
Donations in her memory can be made to any of the following; Mississauga Trillium Foundation, Humber River Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
